Spanish II
In this module, we will explore professions with relation to family members from a cultural perspective and will master associated vocabulary. We will revisit and practice with the preterite tense. We will be introduced to the verbs, "saber" and "conocer," and will investigate how to differentiate between the two infinitives.

This chapter's vocabulary uses words associated with family members and professions. It is highly recommended that you make a vocabulary list of the terms for both sections since you will be using them for small projects and as a study guide for your chapter test.
We are going to begin this chapter learning basic vocabulary terms that relate to family members. Listen to the pronunciation. It is highly recommended that you make a vocabulary list of the terms as well as you will be using them for small projects and as a study guide for your module test. Please use an online dictionary or a personal Spanish dictionary for any terms not defined in this section. Again, make sure to listen to the audio, repeating the words to help you with your pronunciation.

There are two ways to express "to know" in Spanish. In this module, we will introduce the verbs "saber" and "conocer" in the present tense.

Both the verbs saber and conocer mean "to know." However, they have very different meanings.

The preterite tense is something we will be working with throughout Spanish II. It is known as one way to express events which occurred in the past. View the presentations below introducing the preterite tense. One describes using the preterite tense of -AR verbs and the other -ER and -IR verbs. Take notes as you view the material as you will be responsible for the content. Be sure your speakers are turned up!
