Introduction

In this module, we will explore professions with relation to family members from a cultural perspective and will master associated vocabulary. We will revisit and practice with the preterite tense. We will be introduced to the verbs, "saber" and "conocer," and will investigate how to differentiate between the two infinitives.

This chapter's vocabulary uses words associated with family members and professions. It is highly recommended that you make a vocabulary list of the terms for both sections since you will be using them for small projects and as a study guide for your chapter test.

We are going to begin this chapter learning basic vocabulary terms that relate to family members. Listen to the pronunciation. Both the verbs saber and conocer mean "to know." However, they have very different meanings.

La Familia y Las Profesiones Vocabulary Project

Choose one of the following activities for your vocabulary assessment. This is your chance to show off your creativity! There is a rubric on the sidebar indicating how your presentation will be assessed.

**All vocabulary and grammar projects for Spanish IIA, IIAB, and IIB regardless the type, must include audio. Projects may be distributed in: Class work, Test and Speaking categories, depending on the focus of the Project.

**To score the maximum points on all your assignments [100%], this includes Vocabulary Projects, you must fulfill the rubric requirement "Rich use of vocabulary with frequent elaboration" .... include sentences using the vocabulary and grammar correctly in context. The maximum score you can achieve if you decide not to write sentences is 75% minus any errors.

Instructions:

Choice A: PowerPoint Presentation (or any other teacher approved presentation)

  1. Your presentation must contain pictures, sentences, and audio in Spanish. You may use very basic sentences combining grammar and vocabulary. You may even choose to create questions!
  2. A total of 16 vocabulary words (some from each section) must be used. An example is below. As you can see by the example, you are permitted to put more than one vocabulary word in a sentence.
